TEMERLOH: The Government will mobilise 330 specially trained speakers in each parliamentary constituency nationwide to explain the benefits of the goods and services tax (GST).
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said the move was to raise understanding of the policy among the public within the next two months.
“At this moment, I am not satisfied because most people still do not understand the purpose of GST.
“It will be good already if we can raise the level of understanding up to 70% within two months,” he said after delivering a talk to Barisan Nasional members in Mentakab here recently.
Ahmad said an allocation of RM10,000 would be given to organise at least four talks in different areas of each parliamentary constituency.
“The Royal Customs Department will also be giving talks at the same time.
We will hold our sessions in rural areas and organise it for other communities as well so they will not get confused and fear the policy,” he said.
Ahmad added that the speakers were experienced in disseminating information and would be provided with thumb drives containing slide presentations to effectively deliver their talks.
