MALAYSIANS should support the GST as it is a very structured way of collecting taxes for the Government, whether it is Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat.
The issues raised by many is its unfairness to the poor.
If they come from Bachok in Kelantan and earn barely RM1,000 per month in comparison with the millionaires who earn RM250,000 per month or an executive who earns RM10,000 a month and they enter a fast-food establishment, they all pay 6%.
Although it sounds small, it means a lot to the poor. We must have answers for this.
Unlike in Europe and other advanced countries, there is a minimum salary for such a tax.
