KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) Publicity and Information Bureau chairman Datuk Ahmad Maslan suggested the formation of the party's cyber troopers to counter allegations from the opposition's Red Bean Army (RBA).

Ahmad, who is keen to name it 'Blue Wave Army,' said they could also provide explanations to the community on issues that were frequently distorted by the opposition such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

"Most importantly, we will not follow their way (RBA). We will not slander but only explain matters that needed to be explained.

"But if they attack us, we will reply. We will not allow them to attack us just like that," he told reporters after officiating the Umno Cheras Division Convention on Sunday.

At the convention, Ahmad, who is also Deputy Finance Minister also provided information on the GST that will be implemented from April 1 next year.

He said the GST implementation would not be postponed as it was more transparent and had been in use in many developed countries.

"We have deferred the GST implementation a few times and this time we are also giving ample time before it is enforced.

"If there are some who said the GST will raise prices…that is not reasonable because all this while we have been paying sales and services tax," he said. -Bernama
