PUTRAJAYA: The government will respond to the opposition's criticisms of the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) in a week or so through government blogs and leaflets.

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said the anti-GST campaign, headed by PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli, would be refuted by the government in FAQ (frequently-asked-questions) format.

"Give us a week or two and we will respond," he said after announcing the ministry's nationwide seminar to explain GST and its implications.

He said the government was prepared to face the smear campaign by the opposition on GST and would prove that GST was better than the current sales and services tax.

On the nationwide seminar, titled "Empowering the National Economy", Ahmad said it would disseminate information on economic issues and the 11 cost-cutting measures recently announced by the government.
