Trim bloated civil service to cut public expenditure

WE refer to the many articles in the media on the Auditor-General’s 2012 report.

It is really disheartening to hear again and again the many abuse of trust invested in them especially the head of departments.

The fact that the same abuses occur year after year really baffles us.

On one hand, the Government tries hard to balance the budget by raising revenue through the Goods and Sales Taxes (GST) and reduce subsidies on fuel.

On the other hand, billions of ringgit is wasted by abuses of power and mismanagement in government spending. This must stop!!!

We are proposing that the bloated civil service staff be trimmed.

To start with, those who are in the bottom 5% of yearly assessments must be shown the door.

Removing those inept civil servants will not lead to loss of services provided by the government machinery.

At the same time, it will encourage the remaining staff to be on their toes.

This move will surely increase the efficiency of civil servants.
