GOODS AND SERVICES TAX: We can chip in and pay our GST dues

16 October 2013| last updated at 11:02PM

I REFER the report "Anwar warns of protests aganist GST" (NST, Oct 7). What is there to protest?

What is wrong with the goods and services tax (GST) when more than three-quarters of the world's countries are implementing it? They can't be all wrong.

Malaysia has an extremely low percentage of personal income tax payers. Petronas pays as much as a quarter of the Federal Government's revenue. This isn't healthy.

We cannot control the world's petrol prices. What if petrol prices drop drastically?

Let's be rational with our spending and broaden our tax base. Other than essential goods and services, let's chip in and pay our dues. GST is the way to go.
